Not feelin’ it

Posted on

I gotta be honest, it is slow going with the Daughter of the Moon deck. And that doesn’t really mean the deck sucks, just that I don’t feel it right now. I pick it up and open the bag and pick a card, look at it, don’t feel anything and just put it right back. Instead of forcing it, I am just taking some time off tarot this week. I did pick up the Key to Kingdom set today just to look at, shuffled it a bit and pulled out 3 cards. Click on the photo to see it bigger.

Laughing mouse – cute. Reminds me of my cat that spent the day trying to catch a bird the same size as he is, not sure who scared who the most, both jumped and took flight though. We have spring here! The kids snow-grotto is dripping away, we all trail in a ton of gravel and sand and mud each day, there is the distinct smell of dog poo outside :-O You find stuff you lost, like there is a pack of unopened cat food outside my front door. Hmm. Half-rotten apples litter the garden. Things that had a cold respite is now back in full decay again. So the middle card is quite appropriate. The verse is this:

All things decay with Time;
The Forest sees
The growth and down-fall
Of her aged trees

The last card then is The Dront! Or rather Queen Anne. “I am Queen Anne, Of whom ’tis said, I’m chiefly famed for being dead”

Is it not odd how spring can bring to mind death and decay just as vividly as sprouting new life? Oh and I found my old necklace this morning. You can make her sing by blowing into her toes. Is she not simply divine? I got her from a local artist back in the early 1980:ies. I call her Eve. Here she is again:

Tarot of Prague

This weeks deck is an old favorite of mine. Tarot of Prague copyright Karen Mahoney and Alex Ukolov 2005. It is out of print and hard to find so I am very happy I got my set when I did. Well, I got ALL Magic Realist Press decks. I do believe this first one they ever made is my favorite though. I like the chunky woodblocks, the grand statues, the city-scapes… It also feels like a perfect deck for March, when the light returns and the first stirrings of spring.

Yes, I bought new plants to keep my ‘devotional’ collection company. (that is all the tiny figurines) As you can see we still got quite a bit of snow, but the sun is out and melting it off fast, all day I heard large chunks of snow falling off the roof.
